Trefoil Guild Recent Events
May 2009 saw us hosting the Region AGM at Burwell Village College. The sun came out for us and members enjoyed a visit to Burwell Museum or a discovery walk around Burwell with crafts, singing and archives also available at the College. Following the formal business, our speaker Christopher South, a presenter from Radio Cambridgeshire, then shared with us some hilarious stories from his ‘Pictures without a Camera’ repertoire.
Our day at Hautbois during the County Training Weekend also in May could not have been better. The sun shined on us again for the outdoor activities, whilst inside our patchwork cushion covers, hats for Innocent smoothies and tissue paper Centenary mosaic gardens began to take shape. Together with great company at lunch with Leaders from aound the county, we had a terrific day.
Trefoil Guild members were involved throughout Launch 100 to mark the start of our Centenary year on 5th September 2009– manning stations, directing the way, marking the Guideopoly Challenge and joining in the fun. And the fireworks were fantastic.
Our Garden Party, also in September, was a tremendous success. We celebrated the start of the Centenary with garden games which included hook-a-centenary-duck, boules and croquet; we raised £167 for the Branch Associations through a Changing the World ‘Island Café’ and got Adventure 100 off to a good start with a human 100 (some what smaller than the one at Launch 100, but a 100 nonetheless). Also included was a surprise for Pam Fisher who was presented with the Anglia Brooch, by Sue Carpenter, County Comissioner. What a fun packed afternoon!
A total of 208 hats for Innocent smoothies have been knitted by Cambseast Trefoil Guild members. All bottles sold with hats on raise funds for Help the Aged. Look out of them in your local Sainsburys from 4th November.
